Here Are Some Common Questions I Get...

The simple lifestyle and dietary changes in this program are designed to teach you how to take back your health.  There’s no deprivation and no calorie counting. You will be eating tons of delicious food. This is not a diet. You will enjoy gorgeous, fresh, whole foods and avoid processed and packaged foods, factory farmed animal products and commercial dairy. Your meals will be full of clean proteins (organic, grass-fed meat, mercury free fish, free-range organic eggs), nuts, organic butter, low glycemic beans, healthy fats, and low-carb, high-fiber veggies. You will also be taking time to pause and care for yourself. Feeling your feelings rather than feeding them… listening to what your body has to say and supporting areas where you need some extra tender loving care.

I don’t recommend giving up fruit unless you have some health reason for avoiding it. Fruit is nature’s candy and contains health-promoting micronutrients and fiber.

Withdrawal symptoms can last from a few days to two weeks. The longer your body goes without sugar, the less intense your symptoms and cravings for sugar will be. You will also be taking the time to pause and care for yourself. Feeling your feelings rather than feeding them…listening to what your body has to say and supporting areas where you need some extra TLC.

The challenge is a whole-foods based program, and is safe for anyone. That said, if you are under the care of a medical professional, are insulin dependent, or are taking blood sugar regulating medications, I recommend that you consult with your doctor before beginning any new nutritional program. You may find that your medications need to be adjusted with your new way of eating, and enlisting the support of your doctor will be important.

This can be tricky! Ideally, you are eating mostly real food without a label.  However,  you will learn how to read a food label to identify added and hidden sugars and along the way discover the myriad of names for sugar. Some of the ingredients on the package might not sound like sugar, but they are. 

It’s not a contest and please don’t feel guilty if you have sugar when you don’t intend to. In this case, it might be good to review your reasons for taking the challenge and think about what other choices you could make in the future, especially in a similar situation.
